How much does an accountant cost in Israel in 2026? Market ranges and what drives the fee

How much does an accountant cost in Israel? Honestly, it depends on your business: the type of file, how many documents you have, employees, and how complex your annual return is. Here is what drives the fee, the market ranges published in 2026, and how I price my work: a fixed fee agreed in advance.

What drives an accountant's fee?

The fee reflects the work and responsibility your file involves, not just turnover. A business issuing ten invoices a month and one issuing hundreds will pay differently. This is what I look at before quoting:

  • Business type: Osek Patur, Osek Murshe or a limited company (Ltd). A company needs double-entry bookkeeping, audited financial statements, and annual returns for both the company and its shareholders.
  • Volume: how many invoices, receipts and expenses, and how many bank and credit card accounts need to be reconciled each month.
  • Employees: payslips, monthly withholding reports and year-end forms for every employee.
  • VAT reporting frequency: for tax year 2026, businesses with turnover up to ₪1,775,000 report every two months; above that, monthly.
  • Complexity: rental or foreign income, securities, a property sale, a capital declaration (Hatzharat Hon) or tax planning.

Accountant fees in Israel: published market ranges for 2026

Below are ranges published by accounting firms and price-comparison sites in 2026. To be clear: these are not my fees, just a market picture to show orders of magnitude. All amounts are before VAT, and each source defines what is included differently.

How I price: a fixed, transparent fee agreed in advance

No ticking clock and no surprise invoice at year-end. After a free first meeting I propose a fixed monthly or annual fee in writing. If the scope changes significantly, say you hire staff or incorporate, we discuss it first and the fee changes only once we agree.

Employee tax refunds work differently: my fee is a percentage of the refund only. We agree the percentage before I start, and it is charged only if a refund is actually received. No refund, no fee.

What is included, and what is billed separately

Every quote spells this out. Ongoing service usually covers bookkeeping, VAT reports, income tax advances, National Insurance follow-up, day-to-day questions and deadline reminders. The annual return (sometimes part of an annual package), capital declarations, audits, payroll, catch-up work, consulting and representation in tax audits are usually priced separately, and always agreed in advance.

FAQ

Do the prices include VAT?

The market ranges above are before VAT, which is 18% in 2026. My quotes always state clearly whether VAT is included. Licensed dealers and companies can usually reclaim the VAT they pay on the service.

Can I switch accountants in the middle of the year?

Yes. It requires a new power of attorney and a handover from your previous accountant, which I take care of. It is worth checking what you have already paid for this year's annual return so you don't pay twice.

Does an Osek Patur need to pay an accountant every month?

Not necessarily. An Osek Patur does not file periodic VAT reports, only an annual turnover declaration by 31 January, so some choose an annual-only service. If you have many expenses or ongoing questions, a light monthly service can prevent mistakes.

How much does handling a tax refund cost?

According to industry publications, the usual market rate is 17%–23% of the refund plus VAT, sometimes with a file-opening fee on top. With me, the percentage is agreed in advance and charged only if a refund is actually received.

Why don't you publish an exact price?

Because a price without knowing your business is a guess. I would rather understand your situation and give you a fixed fee I stand behind than a "from" price that changes later.
